NMF Says Farewell to Spring Interns
It was a busy Spring in the NMF office. We were lucky to have a few extra hands around to help us out, and to enhance the work we do throughout the Northwest region. Tyler Boyer was an intern in our Entrepreneur Development Program, and Kathryn was an intern with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
We enjoy having the opportunity to interact with students who come to us from area colleges and help them learn new skills that will help them in their future careers.
Tyler is a Bemidji native and he will graduate from Bemidji State University with a bachelor's degree in Economics once he completes his last class this summer. After graduation he hopes to sell his house and relocate somewhere new for a change of scenery.
Tyler said about his time at NMF, "After spending some time reviewing loan portfolios for a project I was working on, I gained some perspective on how impactful the foundation has been in creating real opportunities for local businesses and community members. The NMF’s standing within our community is profound, I think this basic understanding of the NMF’s importance was a valuable part of the internship."
Kathryn is originally from Mankato, MN. Her studies included a degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship emphasis; a degree in Vocal Music Performance with Piano Studies; and a minor in Fraud Examination at Bemidji State University.
Kathryn took this internship position with the SBDC to learn the ins and outs of starting a business beyond what she learned in classes. She has been excited to work with the IDEA Competition and learn from professionals in the region about putting together successful business plans and organization needed to start a business.
Kathryn is beginning graduate courses at Augsburg University in May 2018 for a Masters in Music Therapy. She intends to put her business degree and knowledge from her internship to good use when she opens her own music therapy practice post graduate school. Kathryn has a love for teaching dance, music, riding motorcycles with her fiancé, Dan.

Tyler's interests include anything that involves a mountain, music, and going to school.

Tyler and Kathryn are both very bright and motivated individuals, and we wish them all of the best as they start the next chapter in their lives!
